Fifth- and sixth-graders are in transition between their elementary years and teen years. They are more sophisticated than the fifth and sixith graders of just a few years ago, yet they are still children in many ways. They want purposeful learning, but they want to have fun while learning. Most sixth graders and even some fifth graders enter middle school and experience pressures that didn’t exist for them in elementary school. Kids are faced with more choices, responsibilities, and temptations. Alcohol, drugs, sexuality, gangs, violence, family problems, school struggles, and friendship issues all confront kids at this age.

These preteen kids need Bible lessons that will be both fun and sophisticated. After listening to teachers and kids themselves, we have developed a level of Hands-On Bible Curriculum® that caters to the needs of fifth and sixth graders.

The lessons are still active and fun, but they challenge kids with more sophisticated activities that develop kids’ emerging higher-level thinking skills. Kids are encouraged to discover the "why" behind what they are learning.
